About The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive person to join our Additional Learning Support Team in Canterbury College (EKC Group)

Working in partnership with the Head of Department you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver exceptional inclusive support to our diverse range of learners.

You should have background in education, a teaching qualification, experience of leading a team and be extremely well organised.  You will have a keen sense of responsibility and a can-do approach to dealing with everyday challenges.

You will be working with the Head of ALS in the development of a high quality, inclusive learning support service for students with additional needs, taking day to day responsibility for the management of the service, ensuring that support is integral to the curriculum offer and contributes to success and progression.

You will also have responsibility for the management of a team of Additional Learning Support Teaching Staff, including day-to-day supervision, monthly support meetings and management of the probation process. You may also be involved in the delivery of in-service staff training.

Your involvement with students will include participating in the consultation process for students with EHCPs hoping to attend a college in the EKC Group, and ensuring Annual Reviews are student focused

About You

We are seeking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic person to support the Head of Additional Learning Support in providing for a diverse range of students with a variety of special educational needs.
 
The Ideal candidate should have a background in education and specifically, experience of supporting students with additional needs. A good understanding of Educational and Health Care Plan management is essential.  A teaching qualification is desirable and experience of line managing individuals and/or leading a team. This would include a good capacity to influence and review the design of our learning offer to meet the needs of students with additional needs. 
 
The successful candidate should be innovative, hard-working, a team-player and pro-active, with the ability to inspire, lead, coach and motivate staff. An ability to maximise available resources effectively and support the ALS team in providing excellent curriculum support is also required.
