About The Role

At heart, you’re an engineer, an electrician, a mechanic… but you’re also a teacher, course leader and programme director.

The East Kent College Group is an outstanding environment, replicated by Ofsted and our Ashford College is no different, with has a state-of-the-art engineering facility in the making.

With robotic arms, CNCs, 3D printers, computer-based labs (with CAD software), lathes, mills + more, you’ll have all the latest equipment to manufacture engaging & creative programmes.

As an experienced course leader, with an interest & knowledge in all things engineering, you’ll be taking the next step in your education career for a company who is focused on your development & wellbeing.

As a Programme Director (aka course leader), you’ll be…

  • Supporting the development of the courses and enhance a centre of excellence.
  • Teaching, supporting, and assessing students’ coursework.
  • Overseeing Mechanical & Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualifications in addition to a HNC in Construction in partnership with the University of Kent.
  • Planning a highly relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet the local/regional skills requirements.
  • Meeting the needs of your students, in liaison with the department leadership team to support outstanding progression for students.
  • Implementing the launching of the new T levels in Engineering for September 2023.
  • Leading, communicating, and coordinating your team, so all students receive up-to-date and correct information.

About You

Number one and most importantly, you'll have passion in making a difference to the future careers of our students.
 
You'll also need to be a qualified teacher with at least 1 years’ experience with a focus in vocational education.
 
Ideally we're looking for someone to have an industry background in machining workshops, engineering or construction. It would also be desirable if you have a background in academic leadership, guidance, and managing a curriculum.
 
You'll need to have experience in assessing and tracking student progress, planning intervention, and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed. 
 
We're also looking for character in an ability to lead a team, be organised, creative, and innovative. As an educator, you'll be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
